Astro Defender privacy policy
Astro Defender is made by Modrn Magic LLC.
Astro Defender is made by Modrn Magic LLC.
Modrn Magic LLC built the Astro Defender: Cosmic Crusade app as a commercial app. This service is provided by Modrn Magic LLC and is intended for use as is.
This page explains what information the app collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. It covers every version of the app, up to and including version 1.4, and it says where a newer version works differently from an older one.
If you use the app, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. We do not use or share your information except as described here.
Information Collection and Use
Astro Defender has no accounts and no sign-in. It does not ask for your name, email address, or any other personal details, and it does not use Game Center or Google Play Games.
The app uses Google services that collect information from your device: Google AdMob, which shows ads, Google Analytics for Firebase, which tells us how the app is used, and, from version 1.4, Firebase Crashlytics, which tells us when the app crashes.
Ads (Google AdMob)
The app shows ads from Google AdMob. To choose and measure ads, AdMob can collect information such as your device's advertising ID, IP address, device model, operating system version, how you interact with ads, and app performance and diagnostic information, such as how long the app takes to start.
In versions before 1.4 (the Google Play build from July 2024 and iPhone version 1.3), the app does not show a consent form. On iPhone these versions do not ask for permission to track, so they do not have access to the advertising identifier (IDFA).
From version 1.4, the app does not request any ads until it has checked whether consent is needed, and it does not request them if it cannot confirm that consent allows it. If the app asks for your consent, for example in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, it shows Google's consent form before any ads. If you decline, the app shows ads only if Google's consent rules still allow it, and then they are limited or non-personalized. If they do not allow it, you see no ads.
Your consent choices (version 1.4 and later)
If the app asks for your consent, a Privacy button appears on the main menu. Use it at any time to review or change your choices. If you withdraw consent there, the app stops using your data for personalized ads from then on, limits analytics to basic signals without identifiers, and stops sending crash reports.
Tracking on iPhone (version 1.4 and later)
On iPhone, the app can show Apple's tracking prompt, after the consent form when one applies. It shows the prompt only if it is set up for your device, so you may not see it. If you allow tracking, AdMob can read your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) to show ads that are more relevant to you. If you decline, the game works the same, and the identifier is not shared. You can change this at any time in your iPhone's Settings under Privacy and Security, Tracking.
Analytics (Google Analytics for Firebase)
Every version of the app uses Google Analytics for Firebase. We do not add any custom tracking. Firebase records its standard events, such as the first time the app opens and each session, along with information about the app and your device: the app version, device model, operating system, an app instance ID, your device's advertising ID where it is available, and your approximate country, which Google works out from your IP address.
In versions before 1.4, analytics run whenever you use the app.
In version 1.4 and later, analytics follow your consent choices. Analytics and ad storage start limited: Firebase sends only basic signals without identifiers until consent allows more. If you are in a region where consent is required, they stay limited unless you agree in the consent form, and they return to limited if you withdraw consent with the Privacy button. Outside those regions, where no consent is required, they are on once the consent check completes. If the app cannot complete the check, they stay limited.
Crash reports (version 1.4 and later)
From version 1.4, the app uses Firebase Crashlytics to tell us when it crashes, so we can find and fix the problem. A crash report contains:
- the stack trace, which shows where in the app's code the crash happened;
- the state of the app at that moment;
- information about the device and its operating system at that moment;
- the analytics events from just before the crash;
- a Crashlytics installation ID, which counts how many devices a crash affects.
Crashlytics also uses Firebase's sessions service to measure the app's stability. It collects information about the app (such as its package name, the operating system, the Firebase software version and the network connection type), about the device (such as its maker and model), and when the app was opened.
The app turns crash reporting on only when analytics is allowed. Where we ask for consent, declining analytics also stops crash reports, and if the app cannot confirm your choice, it does not send them. Crash reports contain no name, email address or account details, and we use them only to find and fix bugs. Debug and QA builds, which only we use, do not send crash reports.
Versions before 1.4 do not include a crash reporting tool.
Game data stored on your device
Your top scores are saved only on your device. They are not sent to us or to any server, and they are deleted when you delete the app.
Links to the privacy policies of the third-party services the app uses:
Log Data
We do not collect logs from your device ourselves. Google AdMob collects its own diagnostic information, including reports when its ad code fails, to keep ads working and to measure them, as described above. From version 1.4, Firebase Crashlytics sends crash reports to us as described under Crash reports. Versions before 1.4 do not include a crash reporting tool.
Cookies
Cookies are files with a small amount of data that are commonly used as anonymous unique identifiers.
The app does not use cookies itself. The Google services it uses may use similar identifiers on your device, such as the advertising ID, the Firebase app instance ID and, from version 1.4, the Crashlytics installation ID, as described above. From version 1.4, where the law requires consent, you can limit their use for ads, analytics and crash reports with the consent form and the Privacy button, and on iPhone with Apple's tracking setting.
Service Providers
We use these third-party companies to provide the app:
- Google AdMob, to show ads;
- Google Analytics for Firebase, to understand how the app is used; and
- Firebase Crashlytics, from version 1.4, to find and fix crashes.
They receive the information described above only to perform these tasks for us, under their own privacy policies linked above.
How long data is kept
We do not keep player data on servers of our own. The Google services keep it for set periods:
- Google Analytics keeps detailed event data for up to 14 months.
- Firebase Crashlytics keeps crash reports and their installation IDs for 90 days, then deletes them.
- Google AdMob keeps ad data under Google's own retention policies, described in Google's privacy policy linked above.
Security
We value your trust and use commercially acceptable means to protect information. No method of sending data over the internet or storing it electronically is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Links to Other Sites
The app may contain links to other sites, including ads. If you click a third-party link, you will be directed to that site. These sites are not operated by us, so we strongly advise you to review their privacy policies. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites or services.
Children's Privacy
The app is not directed to anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The app has no accounts, and we keep no player data on servers of our own. The ad, analytics and crash reporting services described above do collect device identifiers and other information from every device that runs the app. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has used the app, contact us. We cannot look up or delete data held by those services, but we will tell you how to reset your child's advertising ID and where to use Google's own controls, including how to ask Google to delete data it holds.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this policy from time to time, for example when a new version of the app changes what it collects. We will post the new policy on this page, so please review it periodically.
This policy is effective as of October 17, 2026.
Contact Us
If you have any questions or suggestions about this privacy policy, or want to ask a question about your data, contact us at support@modrnmagic.app. We keep no player data of our own and cannot look up or delete data held by Google, but we will tell you how to reset your advertising ID and how to use Google's controls, including how to ask Google to delete data it holds.
